Where does Long Island Iced Tea come from?

American Robert "Rosebud" Butt claims he came up with the Long Island Iced Tea while participating in a cocktail competition. Namely, he had to come up with a new cocktail using triple sec. But other stories are also circulating! It is said that the drink was invented much earlier during Prohibition in the United States, around the 1920s, by Old Man Bishop in a local community Long Island in Kingsport Tennesee. After this, the drink would be further perfected by his son Ransom Bishop. They used whiskey, maple syrup, vodka, gin, tequila and rum.

Today, most Long Island Iced Teas are based on Butt's recipe.
