Which type of glass goes with which cocktail?

Over 90% of our cocktail offerings can be served in three types of glasses: the old fashioned glass, the highball and the coupe. BUT ... we believe that a diverse range of glasses contributes immensely to the customers' experience. Constantly ask yourself the question: which glass could contribute to the guest's experience? Experience matters! There are some things to consider when choosing the right glass and its use. An overview:

1. Wash line of the glass

The wash line is the line that the surface of the liquid makes along the rim of the glass after you pour the cocktail into the glass. At first glance, this may seem minor, but it has a huge impact on the guest's experience. Is it too low? Then the guest feels cheated. Is it too high? Then it becomes difficult to serve the glasses at the table without spilling.

A well-filled glass is necessary for a unique cocktail experience

2. Quality and thickness of glass

The most beautiful glasses are usually the most fragile. The answer to the question of what constitutes the perfect glass is relative. Do you have to move fast and pay little attention to the glasses in your business? Then we definitely encourage the use of sturdy glasses! The Libbey brand is known for its extensive range of sturdy glasses that can take a beating. Can it be a little more sleek and chic? In that case, opt for thin crystal glasses. The range of these is huge, we are fans of Spiegelau, Luigi Bormioli, Schott Swiezel and Nachtmann because of their price and quality offerings.

3. Temperature of the glass

The ideal serving temperature of our cocktails is always below 0°C. In order to serve cocktails completely correctly, you should keep in mind that the ideal serving temperature depends on the type of cocktail. We will go into this in more detail in a new blog post soon.

So it is important to keep the glasses chilled. Serving a cold cocktail in a hot glass is the equivalent of serving a hot soup in a cold plate. If there is time, we recommend letting a glass filled with crushed ice stand for about 15 seconds before starting the cocktail. Can't do this? Storing your cocktail glasses in the freezer or refrigerator is even better!
