A Guava Margarita is always a good idea

We all know the margarita, the drink is the by far most consumed tequila cocktail. The original Margarita consists of lime, tequila and orange liqueur. At Craftails we like to add an extra tropical twist. Let us introduce you: the Guava Margarita.

Whence comes the Guava Margarita?

Everyone has had a Margarita before. It is the most famous tequila cocktail, a true Mexican cocktail par excellence.

  1. The first story is that Danny Herrera, a pioneer from Tijuana, is the mastermind behind the Margarita. An acquaintance of his was allergic to all types of alcohol outside of tequila. Unfortunately, she didn't like the drink pure. So Herrera threw the various ingredients together and The Margarita was born.
  2. Another story is that Francisco Morales, a Texas bartender experimented a bit, creating the margarita on July 4, 1942.
  3. However, Enrique Bastate Gutierrez is also known for creating the drink. He named it after Rita Hayworth, an American film actress and dancer. Her real name was Margarita Cansino.

It remains to be guessed who came up with the original Margarita. But without them, we would not be able to enjoy the cocktail we are talking about today: the Guava Margarita.

The Guava Margarita or the Guavarita is a variation of the Margarita. The addition of guava gives the Margarita, which used to have a sweet-sour taste, a sweeter touch.

Guava is a pear-shaped fruit with rose flesh from Central America. It is mainly grown in Mexico. Guava tastes like a combination between strawberry and pear. The fruit is rich in vitamin C and a great source of dietary fiber. Eating the fruit, and thus drinking the Guava Margarita, brings many benefits:
